How My Blog Helped Me to Shoot Passenger Concert

Reading Time: 6 minutes

It was a regular weekday morning.

I got ready, left for the office, and somewhere on the way, I casually opened Instagram.

There it was—a new message request.

I opened it, and the message read something like:

“Hey! I found your page while planning my Delhi trip and I’m interested in shooting at Yamuna Ghat. Mind if I ask a couple of quick questions? No pressure—thanks!”

I love helping people with providing whatever information I can & Yamuna Ghat is one of my favorite winter spots to shoot, so I was happy to respond.

Before replying, I visited the sender’s profile.

The name read: Jarrad Seng—A photographer and director from Perth, Australia.

His work, his experience, his profile—everything felt so powerful and creative.

And suddenly, I wasn’t just curious…I was excited.

His Question That Sparked It All

A few moments later, his message arrived:

“I’m traveling with a musician and want to film him playing guitar at sunrise on a boat with the birds. Is that easy to arrange at Yamuna Ghat or does it need planning?”

I sent him all the information I knew:

  • A quick recce is important to get planned shots
  • Sunrise is magical
  • Mornings are hazy, cinematic, and crowded
  • Sunset is calmer, but sunrise has that “dreamy film shot” vibe

He mentioned they had only 2–3 days in Delhi and were on a very tight schedule.

At that point, I still didn’t know who the musician was.

Helping Him Plan — Without Knowing the Big Twist

They had visited Qutub Minar first, but carrying a guitar wasn’t allowed inside. And I didn’t recommend keeping guitar in clock room since they mentioned it’s an expensive guitar.

So I instantly suggested an alternate place to visit; Mehrauli Archaeological Park

  • No entry ticket
  • No restriction on props
  • Good open spaces
  • Perfect for candid shots

And the shoot went well!

Later, Jarrad messaged and thanked me for the guidance.

Then, he asked what time to meet at Yamuna Ghat the next day.

I said 5:20 AM.

We both left our homes at 4:30 AM — he from one corner of the city, and I from mine — and reached almost at the same time.

Meeting Jarrad at Yamuna Ghat

Since I wasn’t alone, I reached early to give him time to understand the place and visualize the shots.

We talked for a while, and somewhere in that conversation, he casually mentioned the musician:

“Passenger.”

Passenger a.k.a; Michael David Rosenberg

The same artist behind “Let Her Go.”

A Bold Ask & An Unexpected Yes

I asked if I could get the chance to shoot the concert happening in Gurugram.

He simply smiled and said:

Sure, I’ll add your name to the guest list.

Just like that.

We continued shooting as the sky slowly turned visible.

The fog, the birds, the cold air—everything felt surreal.

We got on a boat as the daylight grew stronger, capturing magical frames along the way.

After a while, I had to leave for work while he continued exploring.

But inside, I was still processing the fact that I might get to shoot Passenger concert.

Waiting for the Confirmation

Later, I texted him to confirm the concert entry because I needed to know whether to carry my camera to the office.

He said:

90% yes, I’ll just confirm with the manager.

A few hours later:

You’re allowed. Your name has been added to the guest list.

I instantly plugged in my camera batteries the moment I got home.

The Day of the Concert

I was super excited.

The concert was in CyberHub, and since my office was nearby, travel wasn’t an issue.

I waited the entire day for 7 PM to arrive.

When the clock struck 7, I left immediately.

I reached Cyber hub around 7:30 p.m. Then, I straightaway headed to the counter & I asked about the guest list.

The response almost gave me a mini heart attack:

There’s no guest list.

For a moment, I felt the story was going to take a tragic turn.

But I called Jarrad, explained the situation, and he said someone from the crew would come out.

Within minutes, a crew member arrived with wristbands.

Since I was now part of the “crew,” of the event, I was allowed to carry my camera bag inside.

That feeling…

It’s hard to explain.

A mix of relief & excitement.

Backstage with the Team

I was taken backstage, and there I saw:

  • Jarrad
  • The crew
  • And Passenger, sitting calmly outdoors

It felt unreal that I was suddenly in the middle of all this.

Jarrad welcomed me warmly and guided me to the area where I’d be shooting from.

I stood there, watching the stage lights, hearing the buzz of the crowd, planning my angles.

The Concert Starts

Soon, Passenger walked out, and the crowd erupted.

I felt chills all over.

The photographers were allowed to shoot the first three songs from the front, then move into the crowd and shoot from there.

This was my first-ever concert shoot.

And what a concert to begin with.

I was running around:

  • Front
  • Back
  • Side angles
  • Crowd moments

Trying to capture every moment!

Every second felt precious.

Passenger concert ended in about 1.5–2 hours, and I didn’t stop for a moment.

This was the moment I had unknowingly been preparing for, all these years of shooting, editing, experimenting.

A Perfect Ending

When the event wrapped up, Jarrad found me and asked,

How was it?

I thanked him from the bottom of my heart.

I wished him all the best for the Asia tour and walked out with the biggest smile on my face.

Conclusion

Sometimes life surprises us when we least expect it.

A random Instagram DM turned into:

  • A beautiful shoot at Yamuna Ghat
  • A meaningful connection
  • And the unforgettable opportunity to shoot Passenger live

It reminded me of something powerful:

When you stay curious, keep learning, and genuinely help others, the universe finds a way to open doors you never imagined.

This was more than just a shoot.

It was a reminder that passion, kindness, and courage can take you places talent alone cannot.

And I can proudly say—

This will always remain one of the most magical chapters of my journey.
