When you think of a State known for its Culture, Climate, Food, Hospitality, Picturesque locations, Uttarakhand Knocks our mind and so does the capital city Dehradun which promises to provide all these things.
Dehradun a city elevated at a height of 437m just above Rishikesh and about 236kms from New Delhi, is the place we are heading towards.
We have not decided for Dehradun, rather we are confused between Dehradun and Lansdowne. As after 2 days we have a plan for Mussoorie so we locked Dehradun in our Journey.
You can read my Mussoorie blog here.
The Trip started from the holy city Rishikesh at 10 a.m. in the Morning from the Rishikesh bus stand. We took a bus to Rishikesh to Dehradun. It is about 46kms from Rishikesh and will take around 2hrs to reach.
We reached Dehradun bus stand at 1: p.m. because of the traffic and some construction going on in between. Since, it is a peak season as we expected we searched for budgeted hotels and we aren’t getting any. Finally, we got one in the crowded bazar of Raja Road, Paltan Bazar which is nearby to the Railway station and also where we gonna take our Mussoorie bus the next to next day.
So, we kept our bags take some rest and left to explore the city.
I Have Highlighted the main points for an easy pick.
One of the most attractive places in Dehradun in Robbers cave (Guchupaani). It is a long cave around 200m long and at the end there is a waterfall. The chilled water touching up till your knees is an amazing experience. And there is a snack shop at the top where you can enjoy maggi, omelette etc.
We have spent some time admiring the cave, the structure. While Returning from Robbers cave as we don’t have our personal vehicle and any cab service usually don’t come, so we have to walk back around 6-7km to reach the main road where we will get the cab.
As we become so much exhausted, we went back our hotel take some rest and went to explore the night life.
Nightlife is incomplete if you don’t go to Rajpura road which is famous for its delicious food. At around 8.p.m. we had our food and this time its our call to walk back to our hotel which is around 6 km and its around 11p.m. in the night. Passing by we encountered with Kalsang which is famous for its Chilli Momos, and Clock Tower of Dehradun. Rajpur is amazing when it comes for food. This is a must visit place.
Our Day 2 started up by visiting again on Rajpur road and exploring more as we loved this place. We had seen a Pacific mall, with a statue of Liberty Outside so we found it interesting and the mall is actually very beautiful from inside as it looked outside.
Shopping comes out automatically when we like the place, whether you say Paltan Bazar where our hotel is or Tibetan market for cool budgeted clothes. Overall, Dehradun is a Majestic place, especially when you don’t go in the peak season. I Personally liked it, as I told before about the Climate, Culture, food etc. All in all, making memories is all we need in our life.
We spent most of our day around Rajpur and nearby only. And at night went to our hotel because early morning the next destination is eagerly waiting for us.
